I stood on my balcony this morning, facing just the ocean, and I gave my speech to God, my audience of one. And He loved it because He was the only one in the audience and He knew I was speaking just to Him. And He laughed in all the right places, even when I said “butt”. And He nodded, because I had gotten all the important parts right. And He told me He was proud because He knew I used the gifts He gave me. And when I was through He hugged me and said that the real speech this afternoon didn’t matter, because this one was the real one. And when I whispered the last word, He gave me a standing ovation – thousands of tiny gleams of sunlight reflecting on the waves – just like diamonds. I swear I could hear the waves cheering. Thank you God, my audience of one. For your beautiful standing ovation. I love you. And I always try to put you on the front row.
