On Book Clubs…

19 Feb Posted by in Random Observations | 4 comments

It’s very popular to be in a book club nowadays. But I’m going to be honest. I don’t have time to read a book. And if I do, it is not going to be one of the deep ones on Oprah’s list – I want shallow with a little smut mixed in and perhaps a killing or two. And I certainly can’t remember what I read long enough to discuss it over wine and cheese. And just watch what happens to book discussions after two bottles of wine. (Says Suzie with a slurred voice: I think the main character symbolizes the lack of…..wait….who’s the main character? Wait….which book are we on again? Loud thump as Suzie falls off her stool.) I’m much more in favor of a magazine club – bring your latest People, In Style, Cosmo – bring up Brad and Jennifer, and I GUARANTEE the conversation will last all night. I think we should ditch the whole reading thing all together and just have a wine club. I think you’ll get more people. I’m just saying.
