Where do you go to find your strength?

03 Jun Posted by in Motivational Speaker | Comments

As a Motivational speaker I often ask my audience where they go to find their strength, and I was amazed how many people stared at me slack-jawed with no answer – until I turned the question on myself and realized I didn’t have an easy answer either. I knew where I wanted to go, but found that I rarely went there, but rather talked about going there.

So today I’m asking you to give some thought to where you go, or what you do to fill back up. It’s an important question because in order to give to others – your family, friends, job, kids, community projects – you have to be filled up yourself. You can not put this off. It’s like the oxygen mask on the airplane, you must first put it on your own face before you can save someone else.

“But I don’t even know what to do. And I don’t have time,” I hear you say.

I have one answer: Figure it out and make the time.

You are allowed and required to do something that’s just for you, whether it’s a weekend away once every few months, or fifteen minutes a day between lunch and carpool. AND YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO ANYTHING ELSE. So put that laundry down.

Still stumped? Think of things that feed your soul or your creativity. Something you LOVE to do. All you spiritual people out there, this is the time you let God fill you back up. Talk to Him. For you others, there may be painting, or meditating or a walk through the park, or even exercise. I’m amazed how much thinking I get done on the stair master. You think I’d be skinnier.

So there you go, a simple question that could change your life. But only if you take action.

Now go, and get filled back up!
